OZARK…. Mrs. Lura Griggs Key, a resident of the Asbury Community, near Ozark, died Sunday afternoon, October 25, 2020 in Dale Medical Center. She was 91.

Mrs. Key, daughter of the late Archie O’Bryant Griggs and Berta Brooks Griggs, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. She was a charter member of the Ozark First Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Key, along with her husband, operated Ozark Christian School, a ministry of the Ozark First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morrell Key (1st Sergeant, United States Army, Retired); sisters and brother-in-law, Susie Thomas and Nemma Hughes (Clifton); brother and sister-in-law, O’Bryant Griggs (Patricia).

“Mom” was known for her uniqueness; she was one of a kind. Throughout the years, she hosted many wedding showers and was known for her décor and amazing cooking skills, but she was mostly known for her hunting and fishing adventures. She could suit up in camo and climb a deer stand, shoot a rifle with perfect skill on a Saturday, and show up at church on Sunday in lace and pearls. She was a devoted wife of sixty-four years, a beloved, loving, caring, unselfishly giving mother, who put God and family first. In the last twenty-three years, Zacc, her grandson that she helped raise, was the joy of her life. She instilled in him many great life lessons and a deep faith and love for God. She leaves behind many great memories and “stories” and will be missed dearly until we meet again in Heaven.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Teresa Weldon; grandson, Zacc Weldon; sisters-in-law, Daisy Griggs and Versie Aycock; brother-in-law, James Thomas, all of Ozark; several nieces and nephews.
