OZARK… Mrs. Leona LaValley Benson, a resident of Ozark, died early Monday evening, May 30, 2022, at her home. She was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, June 2, 2022, in the Westview Memorial Cemetery Chapel with Reverend Dr. Scott E. Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Westview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the cemetery.
Mrs. Benson, daughter of the late Leon LaValley and Ellen Clapper, was born in Montpelier, Vermont. She lived in various locations in the United States and overseas, while her husband served in the United States Army. Mrs. Benson worked at the Ceramic Shop on Ft. Rucker teaching soldiers. She enjoyed wood working and garden gnomes. Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-years, Robert Benton Benson (CW3, United States Army, Retired).
Surviving relatives include her children, Timothy B. Tyler (Carmen), Virginia, Ricky W. Tyler (Carol), Eufaula, Tina Tyler Hayes (Chris), Harvest, AL and Robert R. Benson (Tammy), Madison, AL; two sisters, Peggy Chapman, Brownfield, ME and Lena LaValley, ME; three grandchildren, Andy Tyler, Becky Abbett (Brad), and Aura Benson.
