Ozark

OZARK…. Harrison H. Wood (MSG, U.S. Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died late Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2020 at his home. He was 81.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 11, 2020 in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chad Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. The guidelines for COVID-19 and the CDC will be enforced during the scheduled services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.

Mr. Wood, son of the late Frank Wood and Bonnie Vincent, was a native of Central City, Kentucky. He joined the United States Army in 1958, served in the Korean War, four tours in Vietnam and retired in 1978. Mr. Wood lived in various places in the United States and overseas before moving to Ozark in 1973. He retired in 2005 as a helicopter mechanic at Fort Rucker.  Mr. Wood was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda, Shirley, and Janie; three brothers, Bill, James, and Glen; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Wood; great grandson, Ryan Norman, and close friend, Joyce Michaletz.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Hannelore Wood; his children, Joseph Wood (Lea), Dothan; Michelle Young (Brian), Connelly, NY; Patricia Latham (Terry), Montgomery, AL; Debbie Whittle (David) and Joseph H. Wood (Joni), all of Ozark; grandchildren, Brittany Green (Timothy), Traci Burt (Alan), Joshua Latham (Deborah), Racheal English (Clay), Heather Mayr (Jared), Zachary Wood, and Crystina Whittle; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Timmy, Landon, Mackenzie, Austin; brother, Wayne Wood, Illinois; close family friends, Mike Michaletz, John Michaletz, both of Rocky Mount, NC; several nieces and nephews.
