OZARK…Mr. Donald Roy McCoy (CW4, United States Army, Retired), a former resident of Ozark, died late Monday evening, January 9, 2023, in an Orlando, Florida hospital. He was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 15, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Universalist Cemetery in Ariton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. McCoy was born March 7, 1944 in Fairfield, Alabama. He was retired from the United States Army with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 as an instructor pilot. He served two tours in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star on his first tour. Mr. McCoy lived in various locations in the United States and overseas while serving in the military. He moved to Ozark in 1982 and then to Panama City in 2000 before moving to Apopka, Florida. Mr. McCoy was preceded in death by a son, Tom Elliot McCoy.
Surviving relatives include three sons, Don McCoy, Bill McCoy (Alexandra) and Michael Joe McCoy; grandchildren, Devin McCoy and Christy Jo McCoy; two sisters, Linda McCoy and Peggy Kirkpatrick; a brother, Mike McCoy; several nieces and nephews.
