OZARK…Mr. Thomas Rex English (Navy Chief, United States Navy, Retired), passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Thomas grew up in Ozark, Alabama and left to serve the country and travel the world; finally making it back to his hometown and family in 2020. Thomas or “Tom” as his friends and family called him, was a beloved and supportive husband to his wife of four years, Devetta Kay English. When marrying Devetta, he was welcomed and loved into a brand-new family, including her two children, Alissa and her husband Justin Deeds and LeeAna and her husband Scott Thomas and many grandkids and great grandkids. He was a proud father to Katie Boden and grandfather to his pride and joys, Chase and Callie Boden, all of Orange Park, Florida. His son Ethan and grandchildren, Colton, Garrett, and Savannah loved long distance from south Florida.
Tom enjoyed many things and cooking in the kitchen with his wife was his favorite pastime. Recently learning and making homemade breads from scratch and packaging them with love. He loved the mountains and being in his RV and when he could find a good fishing spot, he was at peace. When at home, many times you could find him tinkering in his workshop, always starting and sometimes finishing projects.
Tom was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Jane English. His parents, Lester and Louise English, brothers, Bobby English, Sam English and Travis English and sister Carolyn Davis.
He is survived by his sister, Patricia and her husband, Mike Morris of Ozark, Alabama, his brother Keith and his wife Karen English of Biloxi, Mississippi, and brother Curtis and his wife Wanda English of Ozark, Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was loved so very much by everyone he connected with throughout his life. He was patient and kind and never met a stranger. The world lost a great man and he left a legacy that will last for generations to come.
A celebration of life and military service will be announced at a later date. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
