SKIPPERVILLE…With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Mimi, sister, and friend, Tammy Lynn Snell, who was born on November 18, 1966, and passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2026, from a sudden health issue while surrounded by her devoted husband and children. Her passing came as a complete shock, and her family is heartbroken by this unimaginable loss. Though her time with us ended far too soon, she was surrounded by the love of her family until her very last breath—a reflection of the way she spent her life loving each of us.
To know Tammy was to know unconditional love. She had a beautiful soul and a free spirit who found joy in life’s simplest treasures. She loved walking the land she called home, wearing her flowing boho dresses, journaling and writing poems, listening to music and soaking up the sunshine. She had a special love for her dogs, who were never far from her side, and believed every day was made a little brighter by wildflowers.
For thirty two wonderful years, Tammy shared a love story with her husband, David E. Snell. Some of their happiest moments were the quiet ones—sitting together on the porch, watching hummingbirds dance through the air while their beloved dogs, Boston, EG, Basil, Bee, and Denver White Bear, played in the yard. David never bought Tammy flowers from a store because he knew what she loved most. Instead, he would walk their land and pick her wildflowers, a simple gesture that perfectly reflected the beautiful life they built together.
Her greatest joy, however, was being “Mimi.” There was no title she cherished more. She never watched life from the sidelines. She sat on the floor building projects, searched for seashells and arrowheads, explored the outdoors, laughed until everyone’s stomach hurt, and made each of her grandchildren feel like they were the most important person in the world. She had a remarkable gift for turning ordinary moments into lifelong memories.
Tammy was the heart of her family. She loved fiercely, gave selflessly, and always put others before herself. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering love created a home where everyone felt welcomed, accepted, and safe. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, laughter, strength, and unconditional love that will continue to live on in all who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of thirty two years, David E. Snell; her children, Jamie Erwin (Scott), AJ Snell (Ashley Armstrong) , Matt Snell (Casey), and River Snell (Matt Cole); her treasured grandchildren, Skylar, Ryder, Logan, Poppy, and Millie Kaye, who were truly the light of her life; her sister, Laurie Ballard (Shane); her brother-in-law, Greg Snell; her sister-in-law, Angie McClelland (Mike); her late sister, Sherri Kaye Ferris; Mother in law Marilyn Kaye Snell and Father in law Arthur Lee Snell (Donna Snell); and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in imagining Tammy exactly as she would want to be—walking Heaven’s fields in a flowing boho dress, wearing a crown of wildflowers, surrounded by peace, and finally home. We like to think Heaven needed a hippie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tammy’s memory to the Dale County Humane Society, a cause close to her heart.
The family also encourages everyone to honor Tammy’s memory by spending time with the people you love, taking a walk outdoors, searching for seashells or arrowheads, hugging your children a little tighter, watching the hummingbirds, and never taking a single ordinary day for granted.
Tammy was deeply loved. She will be forever missed, forever remembered, and forever present in every wildflower that blooms, every hummingbird that visits, every adventure shared with her grandchildren, and every story that begins with, “Remember when Mimi…”
“So many people live life never knowing Love but….. we do” - Tammy Lynn Snell
