OZARK…Susan Denise Walls Kimbrough, a resident of Ozark, died late Saturday evening, January 31, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. She was 71.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date in Birmingham. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Kimbrough, the daughter of the late Clyde Walls and Hilda Baker Walls, was born in Birmingham and spent her childhood in Muscle Shoals, Alabama—a place that shaped her warm spirit and strong sense of community. In 1985, she found her way back to Birmingham, where she poured her heart into owning and operating Friends Beauty Salon in Center Point. Her salon wasn’t just a business; it was a gathering place where she made people feel seen, cared for, and beautiful, inside and out.
In October 2025, she moved to Ozark to be closer to her son, a decision that reflected how deeply she valued family. She loved the simple joys of life, especially spending time at the beach, where she could relax, laugh, and take in the peace of the waves. She stayed closely connected to her friends, always checking in, always listening, always showing up for the people she cared about. Her kindness was steady and genuine.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of the Church of the Highlands in Birmingham. She carried that faith with her wherever she went, offering encouragement and warmth to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Walls Walter, and now joins her in rest. Those who knew her will remember her gentle heart, her loyalty, and the love she shared so freely.
Surviving relatives include her son, Evan Kimbrough, Ewell Community; two sisters, Kay Walls Watts, Fairhope, Alabama and Marsha Walls, Athens, Alabama; three grandchildren, Austin Kimbrough, Dillon Kimbrough, and Zane Barnes all of Birmingham.
