ARITON…Mr. Robert Terry, a resident of Ariton, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 31, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home. He was 90.

            Homegoing services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

            On September 5, 1933, Mr. Robert Terry was born to the late George and Ommer Terry in Ariton, Alabama. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. During his early life, Mr. Terry was a farmer, pulpwood cutter, and Boy Scout Troop leader. He was a faithful Masonic member, deacon of the church, and a member of Ariton Church of Christ. He retired from Con-Agra and Southland Poultry Plants. During his retirement, he continued to work at Carter Brothers and enjoyed home gardening. He enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with his loved ones. He made his final transition on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, peacefully at his home in Ariton, Alabama with loved ones by his side.

           He was preceded in death by seven sisters, Annie J. Austin, Louise Terry, Mary Nell Stallworth-Williams, Mary Catherine Flowers, Janice Dean Terry, Nell Ruth Thomas, and Mabel L. Stanford; one brother, Ross Terry; two sons, Clifford Earl Terry, and Robert Glenn Terry; one son-in-law, Joe. M Lampley; two grandchildren, Joshua Terry and Shauna Terry; and a great-grandson, Ryker Kyle Lampley.

         He is survived by his beloved wife of seventy years, Annie Lois Terry; two sisters, Christine Terry of Enterprise, Alabama, and Ommer Joyce Flowers of St. Petersburg, Florida; his daughter, Patricia Terry-Lampley of Ariton, Alabama; three sons, Ross Terry (Karen) of Detroit, Michigan, Patrick Terry (Heidi) of Ariton, Alabama, and Byron Keith Terry (Vivian) of Ozark, Alabama.

          Also left to cherish his memory are eight grandsons, Anthony Laquint Terry Sr. (Aneesah) of Midland City, Alabama, Clinton Terry (Shantrell) Of Webb, Alabama, Marquea Toney-Durham (Jason) of Columbus, Georgia, Jonathan Lampley (Brittany) of Ariton, Alabama, Leonard Terry (Heather) of Ozark, Alabama, Courtney and Gabriel Terry both of Ariton, Alabama, and Rickey Jiles of Montgomery, Alabama; ten granddaughters, “oldest” Tkisha Terry-Baxter (Antwan) of Troy, Alabama, favorite granddaughter, Victoria Terry (Marcus), Megan Jackson (Steven), of Birmingham, Raeshounn Toney and Garneshia Lampley both of Birmingham, Alabama, Amy Duell-Rhymes (Andre) of Denver, Colorado, Takita Terry of Ozark, Alabama, and Curtisha Terry-Wilkerson, Joyce Terry and Dorshanda Terry all of Ozark, Alabama; a special friend, Derrick Moultry; nephew, George Stallworth; two special great-granddaughters, An’Twaneciia Baxter and “favorite” Nyjah Terry; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
