Nancy Mayo Keen

NEWTON…Mrs. Nancy Mayo Keen, a resident of Newton, died early Saturday morning, August 15, 2026, in a Dothan hospital. She was 66.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M.  Monday, August 17, 2026, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Keen was born and raised in Abbeville, Alabama, and was a proud member of the Abbeville High School Class of 1978. Following her graduation, she married and, in 1982, made her home in Newton, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. She devoted many years of dedicated service to Flowers Hospital, retiring in 2016 as a housekeeper. Known for her strong work ethic, kind heart, and quiet compassion, she took great pride in caring for others and making a positive difference in the lives of those she met. Her gentle spirit and steadfast dedication left a lasting impression on coworkers, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In her free time, Mrs. Keen enjoyed cheering on the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, keeping up with her favorite soap operas, and finding joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life. Above all else, her greatest happiness came from her family. She treasured every opportunity to gather with her loved ones, whether sharing stories, celebrating special occasions, or simply enjoying one another’s company. Her warm spirit, loving nature, and unwavering devotion to her family created countless cherished memories that will be lovingly remembered for generations to come.

Mrs. Keen was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Marjorie Mayo; her grandmother, Nannie Lou Mayo, whose love and guidance helped shape her life; and her nephew, Brian Mayo.

Surviving relatives include her husband of forty-four years, Ronnie Keen, Newton; two sons, Ronnie Mitchell Keen and Shawn Anthony Keen, all of Newton; sister, Lisa Mayo Mathews, Phenix City; brother, Kenny Lee Mayo (Louise), Capps Community; sister-in-law, Alicia Deese (Scott), Dothan; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
