Mixon A Cook

OZARK…Mr. Mixon A. Cook, a resident of Ozark, died late Friday evening, April 12, 2024, at his home after a long illness. He was 87.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 15, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. David Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Skipperville Community Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

            Mr. Cook, son of the late Arthur Fred Cook and Alice Barnes Cook, was a native of Ozark and attended Skipperville School. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Mr. Cook also enjoyed playing dominoes and was an avid University of Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. He retired from Ozark Striping after fifteen years of employment.  Mr. Cook was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Cook Leatherwood; brothers, Marvin Cook, Mack Cook, Gene Cook, and Billy Ray Cook; grandson, Tyler Cook and great-grandson, Stetson Enfinger.

            Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-five years, Linda Gail German Cook, Ozark; his children, Ricky Cook (Lisa), Ozark, Audrey Gibson (Jim Gibson), Newville, Billy Joe Cook (Mechelle), Jimmy E. Cook, and Daniel Cook (Ann Marie), all of Ozark; fourteen grandchildren, Brandi Cook (Gail Raye), Brittani Cook, Kelli Cook, Amy Bavaro (Jonathan), William Gibson (Elizabeth), Ashley Gonzales (Israel), Christopher Gibson, Joanie Thompson, Aaron Moore (Anechia), Kaleb Moore (Precious), Clayton Cook, Chandler Cook, Hunter Cook, and Trotter Cook; fifteen great grandchildren, Graham Cook, Weston Enfinger, Landon Gumpenberger, Levi Brentall, Jewell Rodriguez, Joey Brentall, Joleigh Moore, Abbey Moore, Kayla Moore, Leah Moore, Abishia Moore, Elijah Moore, Kaleb Moore, Evie Gibson, and A’Jalynn. 

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Gibson, Aaron Moore, Kaleb Moore, William Gibson, Chandler Cook, and Joey Brentall.
