Ms. Wainwright, born and raised in the close-knit town of Ozark, Alabama, was the beloved daughter of the late Hubert Spurlock and Mary Helen Gilley Spurlock. From a young age, she carried the values of kindness, resilience, and loyalty that were instilled in her by her family. She attended G.W. Long School in Skipperville, where she made lifelong friends and built memories that she cherished throughout her life.
She was a hardworking woman through and through—never one to shy away from responsibility or turn her back on someone in need. Whether it was caring for a sick relative, helping a neighbor, or simply making sure her loved ones had what they needed, Ms. Wainwright gave of herself freely and without hesitation. Her heart was big, and her love ran deep.
In her free time, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved fishing—there was something about being near the water, waiting patiently for a bite, that brought her peace. Her garden was her sanctuary, a place where she could dig her hands into the earth and watch life bloom under her care. She had a special fondness for old-time Rock and Roll, and you could often catch her humming along to the classics, the music bringing a sparkle to her eyes and a smile to her face.
Ms. Wainwright also had a playful side. She enjoyed online games, especially ones she could play with family or friends, laughing and chatting as they competed or teamed up. But above all, she treasured time spent with her family. Whether it was a quiet evening at home, a holiday gathering, or just a phone call to check in, those moments meant everything to her.
Her animals held a special place in her heart. They weren’t just pets—they were companions, confidants, and part of the family. She cared for them with the same tenderness and devotion she showed to everyone else in her life.
Ms. Wainwright was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Spurlock, whom she loved dearly and missed every day. That loss left a space in her heart, but she carried Elaine’s memory with grace and strength.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and quiet strength. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her—family, friends, neighbors, and even those who only crossed paths with her briefly but were touched by her warmth. She lived a life full of heart, and her memory will continue to live on in the stories shared, the gardens she planted, and the love she gave so freely.
Surviving relatives include her children, Anthony Cuevas, Debbie Ivy (Andrew), Dennis Wainwright, Mendy Wood, and Rebecca Eubanks (Elizabeth); sister, Mary Knight; thirteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
