Kim Shipman

DOTHAN…Kim Shipman, a resident of Dothan (formerly of Ozark), passed away late Thursday evening, at her home. She was 64.

Homegoing services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 25, 2026, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Ozark with Reverend Joshua Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Kim Shipman was born Thursday, May 3, 1962, in Ozark, Alabama to the late Everee Shipman and the late James “Buck” Clark. She was educated in the Ozark City School System. She joined the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Ozark at an early age.

She worked at the Ozark Nursing Home for many years as well as the Home2 Inn & Suites in Dothan. During her spare time, she loved to travel, cook, and spend time with her family and friends.

Kim was preceded in death by her mother and father, three brothers, David Lee Shipman, Patrick Douglas Shipman, and Calvin Clark; two sisters, Virpi Vernell Renee Shipman and Jenita Clark. Kim will forever live in the hearts of those who love and cherish her memory.

Survivors include her children, LaTonya Franshawn Shipman, Xavier Pierre Dunalp, both of Dothan and LaTesha Swain, Talladega; her grandchildren, Brandin Shipman, Chicago, Illinois, Tiarra Townsend, Dothan, JaeKwon Nance, Dothan, Isaiah Brown, Florida, and Xavianna Dunlap, Montgomery, Alabama; sisters, Reverend Diana S. Flentory, Ozark, Ms. Linda J. Shipman, Visalia, California, Karen Price (Tony), Dothan, and Mrs. Anita K. (Norckeus) Jean, Daleville; brother, Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired, Arthur L. (Lorraine) Shipman, San Antonio, Texas; special cousins and friends, Ms. Shirley J. Gilford, Ozark, Kimberly Newman, Ozark, Ms. Willie Lee Allen, Dothan, Ms. Becky Simpson, Dothan; special friend and neighbor, Mr. Tatrick Walker, Dothan and Mrs. Julia (Steve) Lane, Dothan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
