Judy Hines Phelps, a beloved mother, retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) at Ft. Rucker after an impressive thirty-two years of dedicated employment. Her passing on Monday, October 16, 2023, has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.

Judy was born on November 22, 1945, in her hometown of Ozark, Alabama. Raised by her loving parents Marell Hines and Edna Herring Hines, Judy exhibited a remarkable strength of character and an unwavering devotion to her family.

With a career that spanned over three decades with AAFES, Judy's commitment and professionalism earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. She approached every task with diligence and an unwavering sense of duty. Her contributions to the organization left an indelible mark, making her retirement a testament to her dedicated service.

Beyond her professional achievements, Judy will be remembered for her warm and nurturing nature as a mother. She epitomized unconditional love and provided unwavering support to her children throughout their lives. Her daughter Melissa Jan Barbaree held a special place in Judy's heart.

Judy's zest for life was reflected in her wide array of hobbies and interests. She delighted in going on cruises and shopping for bargains, finding excitement in discovering that perfect item at an unbeatable price. Cooking was another passion of hers - she infused love into every dish she prepared. Uniting with the ladies from AAFES for monthly luncheon meetings brought great joy to Judy's life. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Ozark.

Exploration was close to Judy's heart; she had a profound love for traveling and took pleasure in driving cars for Gilland Chevrolet. These experiences allowed her to immerse herself fully in each journey she embarked upon. It was during these adventures that she made lasting memories to treasure.

Judy will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. Alongside her daughter Melissa Jan Barbaree, she leaves behind her daughter Brandy Senn and husband Bryan, and her son Jack Andrews and wife Cindy. Her sister Sue Mims and husband Jerry also mourn the loss of Judy. The impact she had on her grandchildren Clifton Wagner, Heather Williams and husband Brandon, Christopher Barbaree, Kacie Potts and husband Kendall, Aubrie Wilson and husband Jonathan, and Haeden Senn cannot be measured. Additionally, Judy's great-grandchildren Ellie Rose Williams, Cooper Williams, and Fallon Wilson will miss her dearly.

To honor Judy Hines Phelps' life and legacy, a visitation will take place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M.  Funeral services will be held t 11:00 AM Thursday, October 19, 2023, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens.

With her warm heart, unwavering dedication to family, and zest for life, Judy Hines Phelps touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will forever be remembered as a shining example of love, devotion, and resilience.
