John Ryan

CW4 (Ret) John "JD" Ryan, 82, died of a prolonged illness in his Ozark, AL home February 19, 2017.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at the Earl Bankston Memorial Chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. prior to service time on Friday.

Mr. Ryan was born on Oct 2, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the son of William Amos and Alice Ryan. A retired Army veteran of 28 years active service, John honorably served his country in 3 combat tours in Vietnam as an army aviator and was decorated with distinction and valor. Upon retirement in 1984, John became a lifelong resident of Ozark, AL.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Midori Ryan; his son, CW5 John Ryan Jr. (Leigh); his daughter, Gina DeRossett; his 3 granddaughters, Morgan, Megan, and Mary Catherine Ryan and his grandson, Nicholas DeRossett.
