BAGWELL’S CROSSROADS…MORRIS, JoAnn Bagwell “Jodi/ JoJo”, age 88, of Ozark, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with the Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower and Pastor Michael Woodham officiating. Burial will follow in Chalkhead Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SAV A PET, 295 Jerry Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
Jodi was born on March 13, 1937, in Atlanta (Fulton Cty), Georgia; the daughter of the late Lt. Col Ray O. Bagwell and the late Bess Hall Bagwell of Dothan, Al.
Jodi was a graduate of Howard College with a Bachelor of Science. While at Howard College she was an active member of Opera Workshop Performances performing several arias and duets from grand operas. She also was a graduate of Sanford University with a degree in Music. Jodi started teaching in Pensacola, Fl then moved to Newnan, GA where she also received her Masters in Education. While in Newnan Jodi was an opera singer with the Newnan Theatre Company playing in several plays such as “Once Upon A Mattress” and “The Sneeze” scene from “The Good Doctor”.
From there she and her family moved to Dothan, Alabama after the loss of her father Lt. Col Ray O. Bagwell. There she taught science at Girard Middle School until her retirement. Jodi built her dream home and farm in Ozark, Al where she taught horse riding lessons which was a passion of hers. Another passion was her flowers and working in her yard and on the farm. You could find her most days either weeding or driving her tractor.
She spent many years as a volunteer for Save A Pet in Dothan where she fostered a multitude of animals. She also volunteered her time with shelters around the Dothan/Ozark area.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ozark where she was a faithful member of the choir. Jodi was also a member of her Bagwell Family church at Chalkhead Baptist where she will be interred. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Roberts.
Survivors include a son, Bruce Haman, Jr and daughter-in-law, Donna Haman, Auburn, Alabama, and their son, Colton Haman, a daughter, Andrea Medina and son-in-law, Mark Medina, Blairsville, Georgia, first cousins Charles and Jeanelle Strickland, 1st cousins Earl and Carolyn Tillman, 1st cousin Martha Moreland and numerous other special family members.
The family wants to extend a warm thanks to Charles and Jeanelle Strickland for the care and love they gave to JoJo while taking care of all her needs. Special thanks to Dennis and Carrie Shaw for the care you gave to JoJo. Special thanks to Sarah Fisk for all she did for the family. Special thanks to Larry Mather for taking such wonderful care of the farm and farm animals.
Thank you to the Dale Medical Center nurses and staff that took care of JoAnn throughout her time there. Also, thank you to the Dale Medical Center Home Health and Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center. The family also would like to thank John Cawley and the Staff of Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home for their loving care and guidance during this time.
Pall Bearers will be Loyd Jackson, Kelly Strickland, Steve McDaniel, Larry Mather, Eddie Hawkins, Jason Blunt. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Stanford Powers, Robert Dyson, Gary Pritchett, Steve Maund, Ray Shaw and Steve Harwell.
