James Thompson

OZARK…Mr. James Thompson (Sergeant Major, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday evening, December 17, 2024, at the home of his son in Enterprise. He was 86.

 Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 20, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Tim Bates officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Southside Baptist Church Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

 Mr. Thompson, son of the late Abraham Lincoln Thompson and Stella Mae Fuqua Thompson, was a native of Escambia County, Alabama and was a graduate of W.S. Neal High School. He attended college in El Paso, Texas for one year while in the United States Army in 1958. Mr. Thompson retired from the United States Army after serving twenty-five years. Following his retirement from the military, he and a friend operated a home remodeling business. Some of his favorite things included fishing with his friend, Mac, travelling, Auburn Football, and most of all his grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Ozark. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Madeline Leonard Thompson and his brother, Jimmy Ray Thompson.

 Surviving relatives include his sons, Jim Thompson (Jan), Cullman, Richard Thompson, Danny Thompson, John Thompson, all of Dothan, and David Thompson (Stephanie), Enterprise; four grandchildren, Mirna Thompson, Amadeua Thompson, Brenda Thompson, and Matthew Hood.
