Glenda F Short

OZARK…Ms. Glenda F. Short, a resident of Ozark, died late Monday evening, November 10, 2025, in Dale Medical Center. She was 94.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the church. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Short, born and raised in the heart of Ohio, was the beloved daughter of Eddie Short and Ida Curtz Short. She carried the values of her upbringing—kindness, humility, and a deep sense of faith—throughout her life. After graduating from Moody Bible College in Chicago, a place that nurtured her spiritual foundation and love for learning, she went on to build a meaningful career as an executive secretary with McGuffin Lumber Company. Her dedication and professionalism earned the respect of her colleagues, and she remained with the company for many years until her well-deserved retirement.

Though she spent much of her life in Chicago, Ms. Short eventually made her home in Ozark, Alabama, where she became a cherished member of the First United Methodist Church. Her faith was not just something she practiced—it was something she lived. She sang joyfully in the Church Choir, lent her wisdom and heart while serving on the Board of Directors, and found fellowship and friendship in the John Wesley Sunday School Class. Her presence in the church was steady and comforting, like a warm light that never dimmed.

Ms. Short was known for her gentle spirit, her thoughtful words, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved. She had a quiet strength and a generous heart, always ready to lend a listening ear or a helping hand. Her life was a testament to grace and service, and she touched many lives with her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her dear sister, Betty Jean Borer, and her nephew, Brentley Borer, both of whom she loved deeply and remembered often. Their memories remained close to her heart, and she spoke of them with tenderness and affection.

Surviving relatives include her brother-in-law, Richard Borer; niece, Lisa Borer McGuffin, both of Ozark; great-niece, Meg McGuffin, New York City; niece-in-law, Athena Borer and her daughter, Haylie Borer, Columbia, South Carolina.
