OZARK…… Mrs. Elouise Kellogg Smith, a resident of Ozark, died Wednesday morning, June 7, 2023, in a Dothan hospital. She was 87.

            A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chris Boutin officiating. Graveside services will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

            Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 475 Camilla Avenue, Ozark, Alabama 36360.

            Mrs. Smith, daughter of the late Joseph Leonard Kellogg, Sr. and Margaret McCarthy Kellogg, was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She lived in various places in the United States and overseas while her husband served in the United States Army. Following retirement from the military, she and her husband traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and all 7 continents, as well as many European countries including, Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, The Netherlands, England, Russia, Luxembourg, Greece and Turkey.

           Mrs. Smith received an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts from Troy University and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She was a member of the “Red Hatters”, served as a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother for Cub Scouts for ten years in Augusta, Georgia and Germany. Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, David Norris Smith; brother, Joseph L. Kellogg, Jr., and a granddaughter, Caitlin Rose.

            Surviving relatives include six children, David Smith, Jr. (Ann), Breaux Bridge, LA; Victoria Shaffer; Michael Smith (Cindy), all of Ozark; Steven Smith (Jennifer), Montgomery; Theresa Smith, Northport, Alabama; Julie LeMonte (David), Ozark; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Matt Qualls, Will Shaffer, Allen Smith, Andrew Smith, Austin Smith, and Steve Puciloski.
