Doug Williams

OZARK…Mr. Doug Williams, a resident of Ozark, died late Wednesday afternoon, January 31, 2024, in the Ozark Health & Rehabilitation Facility. He was 85.

            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 5, 2024, in Peniel Baptist Church. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o, Glenn Miller, 804 County Road 41, Skipperville, Alabama 36374.

            Mr. Williams, son of the late George Hubbert Williams and Mable Clarice Marshall Williams, was a native of the Marley Mill Community of Dale County. He was self employed as a plumber and electrician for several years and later operated heavy equipment with his brother, Danny. Mr. Williams enjoyed traveling with his “RV” and loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He could always be found working hard and “piddling” around building things. Mr. Williams was a veteran of the United States Army and the Alabama Army National Guard where he was activated in Fort Irwin, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Tharpe Williams; great granddaughter, Jordyn Claire Johnston; a brother, H.L. Williams.

            Surviving relatives include his two daughters, Sandra Faulk (Jimmy) and Sheila Johnston (Mark); his sister, Katy Mitchell, all of Ozark; two brothers, Danny Williams (Regina), Ozark and Lummie Williams, Marianna, Florida; three grandchildren, Ed Parrish (Jodi), Leah Dunkle (Scott), and Matt Johnston (Katie); six great grandchildren, Tori Dunkle, Carson Dunkle, Kaine Parrish, Maevry Parrish, Ryleigh Johnston and Jud Johnston; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

            The family would like to thank Enhabit Hospice, Day Spring Hospice, Ozark Health & Rehab, Flori, family members and friends, for their loving support and meals provided during this time.
