OZARK…David Gene Hunt, age 58, passed away Monday, February 2nd, 2026, at his home in Ozark, Alabama.

David was born in Chicago on February 6th, 1967, and over his 58 years he traveled all across the states. Everywhere he lived, he made a big impact on the lives of those around him. And never struggled with finding friends. Along with travelling, David excelled at whatever work he started. Everything from driving trucks, operating heavy machinery, repairing tractors, and even a short stint as a butcher.

Regardless of if he had ever done the job before or not, it never took him long to become an extremely valuable member of each company he worked at. Through his hard work, great work ethic, and reliability, David was always an important asset. And thanks to his sense of humor, and outlook on life, he was able to bring the morale and attitude of those working with him up as well.

In his free time, you could probably find him at a pool table. He loved the game and was always trying to improve his skills at it. He also loved to create things. Be it with wood working tools, or a grill, he was able to express his creativity and create handcrafted wooden toys and lamps. His cookouts were always an event, between the entertainment his personality would bring, and the food good enough to be devoured before he was even finished with the second batch. He enjoyed this stuff, not because he wanted to be the center of attention, but because he wanted those, he loved to have fun and a good time.

He always put others before himself. From growing up in Chicago, to living at a home where he helped raise lions, tigers, and other big cats(including a panther that he called Christopher), as well as bears and other animals, to driving a semi-truck through a tornado, he lived a life that was full of adventure that gave him plenty of stories to tell around campfires.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dorothy Hunt; his four brothers, Robert Smith, Ronald Smith, Kenneth Reynolds, Thomas Reynolds; and his three sisters, Barbara Sullivan, Patricia Hill, and Dottie Reynolds.

He is survived by his fiancée, Senta "Sam" Boykin; his brother Wayne Tilly; his three sons, David A Hunt, Aaron Hunt, Nicholas and his wife Arielle Hunt; his step-children, Christopher and his wife Donna Barnes, Blake and his wife Crystal Barnes, Mark Barnes, Angel Odom and her husband Alvin Cross; his godchildren, Lacy Cross, Raymond Cross, along with many other cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him.

Honoring David's wishes, there will be no service at this time.
