D S Chancey

OZARK…Mr. D S Chancey, a resident of Ozark, died late Saturday morning, May 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, at the home of his granddaughter, Michelle. He was 86.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wendell Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Westville, Florida. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Chancey, son of the late William Obie Chancey and Minnie Lee Hood Chancey, was a native of Westville, Florida. He was retired from Lykes Brother’s Produce in St. Cloud, Florida. Mr. Chancey enjoyed dancing, cooking, and spending time with his family. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Chancey was a member of Place of Grace Church in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Simmons Chancey, his son, Robert Dale Chancey, his siblings, Sherman Chancey, Elizabeth Harcus, and Charles Chancey.

Surviving relatives include his daughters, Sherry Hughes (Bryan), Echo, Marie Maloy, Ozark, and Shirley Beckette, Pell City; three sisters, Juanita Wood, Elba, Mary Lyle (Randy), Destin, Florida, and Linda Gill, Defuniak Springs, Florida; brother, William Earl Chancey (Marie), Defuniak Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Michelle Chancey (Lewis Lange), Zackery Hughes, Jody Dale Berry, Renee Galinski (Alan), Tina Johnson (Allen), Donald Maloy, and, Nicole Walden (Todd); great-grandchildren, Kipton Chancey, Zackaria Chancey, Zaiden Mathews, Brian Jacob Hughes, Elijah Hughes, Mercedes Galinski, Larry Galinski, Shelby Galinski, Elizabeth Hopple, and Matthew Hopple.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Zackery Hughes, Lewis Lange, Noah Hopple, Zachariah Hood, Michael Wood, and Rod Chancey.
