Ozark

OZARK…Mr. Curtis Lee Parris (Sergeant First Class, United States Army, Retired), a resident of Ozark, died Thursday afternoon, August 15, 2024, at his home. He was 76.

 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Phyllis Ann Pittman officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in Westview Memorial Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The family asks that those in attendance to follow COVID guidelines by wearing a mask.

 Mr. Parris, son of the late Leon Parris and Roberta Glenn Parris, was a native of Galveston, Texas and graduated from high school in Cleveland, Texas. Before the military career, he was in the Job Corps. Mr. Parris lived in various locations in the United States and overseas, while he served in the United States Army, before moving to Ozark in 1992. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired from the Army after twenty-two years of service. Mr. Parris was also retired from Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) as an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of New Covenant MWOC in Port St. Joe, Florida. Mr. Parris was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Parris, grandchildren, Shakiyla Ann Parris, Atiyana Parris, and Quinetra Fletcher, and a brother, Lionel Parris.

 Surviving relatives include his wife of fifty-five years, Vera Hill Parris, Ozark; three children, Leroy Harper (Carolyn), Norman, Oklahoma, Delmar Parris, Ozark and Joyce Fletcher, Cleveland, Texas; a sister, Glenda Parris Breaux (Kenneth), Dayton, Texas; special sister-in-law, Ollie Hill, Dallas, Texas; twenty-six grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of SouthernCare Hospice for their loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Parris and his family during this time.
