AUBURN…Mrs. Carol Jean McVay Nichols Rogers, a resident of Auburn (formerly of Ozark), died Thursday, August 22, 2024, at her home. She was 77.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain John Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rogers, daughter of the late James L. McVay and Mary L. Langford McVay, was a native of Troy, Alabama. She formerly lived in Selma and Ozark before moving to Auburn in August 2023. Mrs. Rogers enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and most of all family holiday dinners. She was an avid University of Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves fan, watching the Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, Gunsmoke, and Andy Griffith. In earlier years, she loved babysitting her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husbands, John Wayne Nichols and Earl Rogers and a son, John Wesley Nichols.
Surviving relatives include her daughter, Lisa Lynn Nichols Ross (Johnnie), Auburn, Alabama; sister-in-law, Kay McVay, Birmingham, Alabama; two brothers, Sheryl McVay (Alana), Pennsylvania and Charles McVay, Dothan; grandson, Charles Wesley Wayne Nichols Ross; great-grandson, Cole Eli Ross; and her fur baby, Gracie; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
