Annie Catherine Sutton Stevenson

WATKINSVILLE, Georgia…Our hearts are filled with both sorrow and gratitude as we remember the life of our mother Annie Catherine Sutton Stevenson. At the age of 90, Annie peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3, 2026, with her daughter by her side. Though we will miss her deeply, we are thankful for the love, faith, and kindness she shared so generously throughout her life.

Born on August 14, 1935, in Clio, Alabama, Annie was the daughter of Ellis and Ruby Sutton and the only girl in her family of four children. She later made her home in Daleville, Alabama, where she spent most of her life surrounded by her husband of 68 years, family, friends, and a church community she dearly loved.

Annie's life was defined by unwavering faith, selfless service, and unconditional love for others. She was a devoted member of Daleville Baptist Church, where she faithfully sang in the choir, participated in church ministries, and served wherever she saw a need. Her faith was not merely something she professed—it was evident in the kindness, compassion, and generosity she extended to everyone she met.

She found great joy in serving others through the Baptist Children's Homes, preparing meals for young ministers at Florida Bible College, and quietly ministering to those who needed encouragement. Annie never met a stranger. Whether offering a home cooked meal, a listening ear, or a heartfelt prayer, she made everyone feel welcomed, loved, and valued.

Above all else, Annie was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, an extraordinary mother, and a treasured "Granny" whose greatest happiness came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She celebrated every milestone, attended countless school programs, concerts, sporting events, and graduations, and never missed an opportunity to encourage those she loved. Her family was her greatest blessing, and she delighted in talking about them with everyone she met.

She especially enjoyed annual fall trips to the Tennessee mountains with her husband, Vernon, tending to her beautiful flowers and gardens, singing the great hymns of faith, and ending the day with a coke or ice cream.

Those who knew Annie will always remember her beautiful blue eyes that sparkled with joy, her infectious smile, and her remarkable ability to make every person feel special. She lived with humility, grace, and a servant's heart, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her unwavering trust in the Lord remained a testimony to everyone who knew her.

Annie leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and generosity that will continue to live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family rejoices in the promise that she is now whole, at peace, and forever in the presence of her Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

Annie Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon of 68 years; her daughter-in-law, Sara; her granddaughter, Courtney; her brothers, Buddy Sutton, John Sutton, and Jimmy Sutton. She is survived by her children, Jackie Stevenson, Tommy Stevenson (Mary Clay), Teressa Stevenson King (James); her grandchildren, Brandon King (Paige), Elizabeth Stevenson Johnson (Josh), Caitlin King (Will), Grace Stevenson, Daisy Stevenson; and her eight great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Brenda Sutton; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home, Ozark, Alabama. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the funeral home. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.
