OZARK…Mr. Alan Tidwell, a resident of Ozark, died Friday morning, September 13, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 62.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 16, 2024, in Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan with Reverend Mike Griggs, Reverend Bobbi Lassiter, and Reverend Greg Aman officiating. Eulogies will be given by Mr. Alan Benefield, Mr. Charles Ward, Mr. Larry Hicks, and Mrs. Deborah Bean. Graveside services, with fire department honors, will follow in Newton City Cemetery. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Alan, son of the late Harvey Tidwell and Lucille Outlaw Tidwell, was a native of Newton. He was a 1980 Graduate of Dale County High School and following high school he was employed with the City of Ozark as a firefighter and paramedic. In 1989, he began working with Fort Rucker (now Fort Novosel) Fire Department and retired in April 2017. Alan was a member of Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan. He will always be remembered as one who put others before himself and would help in any way he could. He always had a kind or funny word to share with everyone he met. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Lee and his mother-in-law, Ruth Brunson.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Julie Brunson Tidwell, Ozark; daughter, Madison Rippey (Rein), Newville; son, Ben Tidwell (Jean Kendall), Ozark; father-in-law, Wes Brunson, Ozark; sister, Sue Smith (Travis), Wicksburg; granddaughter, his pride and joy, Ali Ruth Rippey; sister-in-law, Melissa Thornton, Ozark and brother-in-law, Steve Brunson (Tammy), Mexico Beach, Florida; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Grantham, Dennis Mauldin, Robert Smith, Jerome Campbell, Bill Strickland, David Ammons, Chip Graham, Larry Jacobs, Charles Ward, Wayne Napier, Alan Benefield, Cliff Warren, Joel Creel, Steve Reynolds, Larry Hicks, Tommy Farmer, Lee Scott and Earl Blocker. Honorary pallbearers will be firefighters and paramedics he served with over the years.
