OZARK…. Mrs. Trudy Walker Compton, a resident of Ozark, died early Tuesday morning, November 13, 2018 in a Dothan hospital. She was 69.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Kenneth Hale and Dr. Dennis Tew officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Kelly Shiver, 33 Kelly Dr., Midland City.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Gideons, PO Box 403, Daleville, AL 36322.

Mrs. Compton, daughter of the late Billy Eugene Walker and Hazel Derotha Mathis Walker, was a native and lifelong resident of Ozark. She was formerly employed at Wal Mart in Ozark for several years. Mrs. Compton was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Bertha Mae Turner; her brother, Thomas Dowling Walker.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Bill Compton, Ozark; two daughters, Mary Herring (Kirk), Ludowici, GA and Kelly Shiver (Rick), Midland City; three sons, Shane Turner, Ozark; Steve Compton, Charleston, SC and Jason Compton (Tammy), Oklahoma City, OK; a sister, Mary Cochran (Treadwell), Dothan; a sister-in-law, Glenda Walker, Newton; eleven grandchildren, E’Lanna Nowell, Shelby Herring (Frances), Shane Turner, William Shiver (Paige), Brooke Shiver, Micah Waddell (Jeffrey), Ryan Compton (Diana), Ian Compton, Paityn Compton, Rachel Flowers, and Rebecca Flowers; eleven great-grandchildren, Dakota Nowell, Peter Nowell, Andrew Nowell, Bryson Turner, Sophia Shiver, Sadie Shiver, Layla Waddell, Corbyn Waddell, Coltyn Waddell, Adrian Compton, and Natalia Compton.

Serving as active pallbearers will be William Shiver, Shelby Herring, Carl Mosley, Shane Turner, Rick Shiver, Kirk Herring, and Jason Compton.

    Trudy's family, I am a distant cousin of Trudy"s. So sorry about her death. May God bless ya'll. Think of her in Heaven with a new healthy body and enjoying family and Jesus. Just keep the good memories in your heart and mind. Uncle Shoff Cook was my grandmother's brother.
